Acres for Education launches its third annual appeal

Oct 9, 2025 | 3:54 PM

Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK) is calling on the agriculture community to rally behind its fundraising campaign.

By making a donation, supporters will help bring agriculture to life for thousands of students across the province — and thanks to a generous matching partnership with JGL Livestock, every dollar will now go twice as far.

Funds raised through Acres for Education directly support AITC-SK’s programs that get students out of the classroom, connecting them with real-world agricultural experiences. Offered at no cost to teachers, these experiences inspire curiosity in food production, build confidence in modern farming practices, and encourage students to see the opportunities within Saskatchewan’s most vital industry.

Since the campaign began in 2023, Acres for Education has raised more than $110,000, providing meaningful agriculture learning opportunities to thousands of students. Together, farmers, ranchers, and community supporters have shown the power of investing in the next generation. This ongoing support ensures agriculture remains an important and inspiring part of classroom education across the province.

Sara Shymko, Executive Director of AITC-SK, said every dollar donated is a direct investment in the province’s future.

“We know agriculture education matters in building informed consumers — and with JGL matching every gift, this is the moment for our community to come together and make a real impact,” she said.

Melissa MacLean, Director of Marketing & Philanthropy at JGL said they believe the future of agriculture depends on the next generation.

“By investing in education and supporting organizations like AITC-SK, we’re excited to help students connect with agriculture and build a deeper understanding and appreciation of the food we all rely on every day, and those who grow and produce it,” MacLean said.

The Acres for Education campaign runs until Dec. 31. Charitable donations can be made by visiting aitc.sk.ca/acresforeducation. JGL will match every dollar donated up to $25,000.
