Slump Weekend

Mustangs’ woes against Bombers continue

Nov 23, 2025 | 11:21 PM

For the second straight night, the Melfort Mustangs fell to the Flin Flon Bombers in a game that ultimately got away from them.

After a scoreless first period, it was the Mustangs who broke the ice, as Tristin Ziola had his fifth of the season just 52 seconds into the second stanza.

Unfortunately for Melfort, the Bombers scored the next three to take a 3-1 lead heading to the third.

The Stangs did manage to bring it back to within one in the final frame, before Flin Flon put it away with two more goals to end it.

That capped off an 0 and 2 weekend for the Blue and Green, who were outscored by their division foe, 13-5.

Melfort is now also 0 and 4 against their Northern Manitoba rivals this season.

Next up for the Mustangs is the rest of their big home stand, which includes three games at the Palace this week.

They will play host to the Weyburn Red Wings on Wednesday, before hosting their parent billet weekend with contests against the Nipawin Hawks and Warman Wolverines.
