Man charged with second-degree murder in Melfort has trial date set

A trial date has been set for a man charged with second-degree murder after the death of his long-time partner.

Cody Chubey’s case has been set for trial June 8 at Melfort’s Court of King’s Bench.

Chubey was charged after the death of Danielle Dobersheck in Melfort in early 2024.

RCMP were called after an incident at a local hotel, and officers determined there was an altercation between a man and woman.

Dobersheck was declared dead at the scene.
