Mustangs commit forward for next season

The Melfort Mustangs have added a player for the 2026/27 SJHL season. Melfort has committed 2008-born forward Tyson Janzen.

Janzen, currently with the U18 AAA Warman Wildcats of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL), has 10 goals and nine assists (19 points) through 31 games this season.

The Martensville, Sask. native also suited up five times for Warman last year, which included a playoff game, and posted one goal.

Standing at 6-2 and 165 pounds, the left-shot forward was called up to the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL) this season as well, earning a single Junior B appearance with the Saskatoon Royals, in which he registered an assist.

Janzen could join a Mustangs’ club this year as an affiliate player (AP), which is currently on a three-game win streak and closing in on a playoff spot.
