Mustangs mount huge comeback in shootout win over Klippers
The Melfort Mustangs picked up their biggest win of the season Saturday night, doing so in comeback fashion.
Despite a handful of controversial calls not in the Mustangs’ favour, which resulted in their head coach being kicked out and Kindersley taking a 4-1 lead on four powerplay goals, Melfort found a way to bring it back to evens before taking it 5-4 in a shootout.
“That felt fantastic. That was probably one of the biggest wins for us all year, and it just felt great to sweep the weekend,” explained captain Zayden Sadlemyer. “It was obviously tough when Blevs got tossed, just having one coach for the rest of the game, but he bit the bullet for us, and we were able to get it done for him.”
With the victory, the Stangs secured the season series over the now sixth-seeded Klippers and are now just five points out of a playoff spot.
