Rough weekend for local hockey teams

A rough weekend for the Tisdale Trojans, as they dropped both games against the Battlefords Stars at the RECplex. 

Tisdale fell 4-0 on Saturday. 

Wyatt Fleischhacker made 37 saves in the loss for the Trojans. 

The Stars beat the Trojans 5-1 on Sunday. 

Carter Hudyma scored the lone Tisdale goal, and Fleischhacker made 19 saves in that contest. 

Tisdale is now three points back of the Stars for seventh place in the AAA standings. 

The Trojans will host Warman on Sunday.

In the PJHL, the Carrot River Outback Thunder also lost both games this weekend. 

They were shut out 4-0 by the Saskatoon Westleys on Saturday. 

Hunter Nakonechny stopped 34 shots in the loss. 

The Thunder dropped a 4-2 decision to Martensville Sunday afternoon. 

Gavin Bodnarchuk and Nolan Holmen staked Carrot River to a 2-0 lead, but they couldn’t hold on. 

Dominic Smith made 29 stops for the Thunder. 

Carrot River will host PA on Friday.

The North East AA Wolfpack were also 0-2 on the weekend. 

On Saturday, they lost 8-7 to the Saskatoon Crunch. 

Ethan Janzen had a hat-trick for the Wolfpack, while Hayle Dennis scored twice. 

Nixon Coleman and Colt Hrebeniuk also had goals for North East, while Kane Hutson made 54 saves for the Wolfpack. 

North East also lost 9-4 to the Saskatoon Screaming Eagles. 

Ethan Janzen had another multi-goal game for the Wolfpack, scoring twice. 

Jonas Markwart and Nixon Coleman also had goals for the Wolfpack. 

John Gall made 13 saves and Hutson stopped 29 shots for North East. 

They will be in Humboldt on Sunday.
