Mustangs welcome struggling Bruins in another big game
The Melfort Mustangs will once again play an important, potentially playoff-indicating game, as they welcome the Estevan Bruins to town Wednesday night.
Melfort is coming off a weekend sweep of the Kindersley Klippers, who currently hold the sixth-spot in the SJHL standings, despite being just seven points ahead of the 10th-place Mustangs.
Estevan, meanwhile, has fallen out of a playoff spot, for possibly the first time this season, as they’ve lost seven in a row and nine of their last 10 to drop to ninth. Just two points currently separate the ninth and sixth-place teams in the SJHL.
The Stangs have faced the Bruins twice this year, both coming on the road, losing one and winning the other. The victory was the most recent meeting between these two clubs, a 3-2 score on Jan. 16.
