Over a dozen charges laid after car jacking in Northern Saskatchewan

Feb 24, 2026 | 1:25 PM

A man from Prince Albert and a woman from Deschambault Lake are facing a combined total of nearly a dozen charges after an assault and vehicle robbery with a firearm.

Keith McCallum is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Feb. 26, and Kanyssa Merasty is scheduled to appear in Pelican Narrows Provincial Court on March 3.

On February 15, at approximately at 5:35 p.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP were called to Jan Lake.

It was reported two individuals in their mid-20s, a male and a female, assaulted the occupant of a white Dodge Ram truck and stole the truck.

Police officers from several RCMP detachments responded immediately. Pelican Narrows RCMP, Creighton RCMP and Deschambault Lake RCMP searched for the truck but were not successful. The victim was located by officers and determined to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The following morning, at approximately 3 a.m., while responding to a report of a traffic collision on Highway 165, La Ronge RCMP officers located the male suspect and the stolen white Dodge Ram truck.

Upon arresting McCallum, officers learned he was also wanted on a warrant by Creighton RCMP for breach of probation since Feb. 9.

Later that day, Prince Albert RCMP and Montreal Lake RCMP officers located and arrested the female suspect in a vehicle travelling on Highway 2, north of Prince Albert. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, police officers located a replica revolver CO2 air pistol.
