Slow start grounds Hawks in Flin Flon
The Hawks pushed the pace against the Bombers over two periods Tuesday, unfortunately for Nipawin they spotted Flin Flon a 3-0 lead and never recovered falling for the 14th straight game at the Whitney Forum.
Hunting their first win in Manitoba since Feb. 15, 2022, the Hawks gave up three first period goals and headed to the first intermission.
Breaden Jockims got Nipawin on the board early in the second period with his 16th goal of the year. The 20-year-old from Saskatoon, Sask. has a seven game goal streak with nine goals over that stretch. Eric Hoiness added his 17th of the year early in the third period drawing the Hawks to within one.
The Hawks gave up the insurance marker halfway through the third period and could not find the equalizer. Head Coach Tad Kozun said on the postgame show on 750 Beach Radio that there were lots to like from his team, but you can’t get behind against the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) top team.
