Man sentenced after traffic stop yielded drugs, weapons

A man and woman charged after a traffic stop west of Nipawin last year have learned their fate. 

Tyler Sheridan of Nipawin will spend almost three and a half years behind bars after being sentenced at Melfort Provincial Court on Thursday. 

Sheridan was charged on five separate counts, and he also faces a firearms prohibition, a DNA order, and a forfeiture order. 

Charges against Maureen Head of Melfort were stayed. 

Nipawin RCMP were called to help conservation officers with the traffic stop on a grid road west of Nipawin last August.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a semi-automatic rifle, a flashlight taser, about 200 grams of methamphetamine, 54 grams of cocaine, a sum of cash, and additional drug paraphernalia.
