Family Music Night at Historic Post Office in Melfort

Feb 27, 2026 | 1:27 PM

A fundraiser being held in Melfort Friday night is geared toward family.

Family Music Night is being held at the Historic Post Office from 7 to 9 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.

Historic Post Office Advocacy Group director Elaine Tremblay told northeastNOW it will be a chance to have some fun for a good cause.

“Family Music Night is a fun evening for everyone,” Tremblay said.

The musical entertainment is Doug Holoien and The Hometown Band.

Admission is by donation at the door, and all proceeds will go to the significant restoration of the iconic Historic Post Office in downtown Melfort.

“Our first priority is replacing the two front doors, and then doing the floor,” Tremblay said.

The facility has had a lot of work done as of late, including the replacement of the three flat roofs, lead paint abatement, and the replacement of all windows.

“As more fundraising happens, we will prioritize as we go,” explained Tremblay.

The first phase of the Advocacy Group’s plans revolves around the restoration of the main floor, which they indicated at a meeting in November could be a five-year plan. Repairs and restoration of the second and third floors would follow.

Residents can submit their ideas regarding the future of the over century-old building can submit them via email to hpoag2025@gmail.com
