Fire departments called to vehicle in ditch, garage fire

Two local fire departments responded to calls on the weekend. 

The Melfort Fire Department (MFD) was called to reports of an occupied vehicle in the ditch south of the city Saturday morning. 

They performed traffic control and helped the person out of the vehicle. 

The MFD also assisted with a patient at the hospital while the other call was underway. 

The Kinistino Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the RM of Kinistino Sunday night.

When crews arrived, they saw a garage that had caught fire and had gone unnoticed by the owner. 

A passer-by noticed the flames and made the call to 9-1-1. 

The garage was a total loss by the time the fire department arrived, and the owner of the garage didn’t want the department’s services.
