A developing low pressure system will bring accumulating snowfall to the region today and continue through the evening and overnight.

Environment Canada is predicting 15 to 20 centimetres of snow. A warning covers the Melfort, Nipawin and Tisdale areas, east towards Hudson Bay and down to Kamsack. The exact location of heaviest snow remains uncertain, but significant accumulations are likely in some areas.

The weather service said roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow and motorists should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

According to the Highway Hotline, most highways across the region were reporting challenging driving conditions as of 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Highway 3 between Prince Albert and Kinistino was listed as covered with drifting snow, swirling snow and ice. The same conditions were reported on Hwy 6 from Melfort to Naicam, and on Hwy 3 and Hwy 35 east and south of Tisdale.
