MONTREAL — Legal proceedings have been settled out of court between Just for Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon and Quebec media personalities Pénélope McQuade and Julie Snyder.

In 2020, Rozon filed a $450,000 defamation lawsuit against the two women over remarks they had made during a television show hosted by Snyder.

Rozon alleged that false statements of an “inflammatory and accusatory” nature were made with the intent to harm him, and in response Snyder and McQuade filed a counterclaim for abuse of process.

All three have announced they reached an agreement resulting in the withdrawal of their respective legal actions.
