Lorne Sinclair
Posted Apr 7, 2026 | 4:42 PM

Dad was born in Kinistino on September 23, 1934 to Jean and Edmund Sinclair. Dad and twin sister Lorraine are the youngest of their four children. He also had 4 half brothers and sisters.
Around 1942, Dad moved with his family from their home in the Crescent Hill district to the farm on the very west side of the Kirkton district 3 ½ miles from Kinistino. He attended Crompton School until grade 8. At that time he left school to help on the family farm working the land and working with livestock. From there he started his own career in farming, which he enjoyed very much and held a strong interest in his entire life. He spent many hours on his trusty quad checking crops, seeding and harvest progress, and enjoying the smooth steady hum of the machines and the other sights and sounds of those seasons.
Dad married Margery Holmes on October 26, 1956. To this marriage, 2 children were born. Sharon Margery, born October 15, 1957 and Edmund Lorne, April 19, 1964.
Dad had many hobbies and interests – sports of many kinds, woodworking, fishing and hunting to name a few, but at the top of the list was his love of music. Dad and Mom entertained hundreds of folks in many different forms throughout the years, travelling countless miles to entertain at various places including Folkfest in Saskatoon, dances and other functions in many communities (sometimes even expanding the group to include their kids/grandkids as well as a number of great friends here and there along the way), and also providing entertainment at several of the surrounding nursing homes. Dad’s father Edmund had also been a music lover and played fiddle very adeptly at many an event in his day.
Family was very important to Dad, often checking in to make sure everybody was doing well and telling each and every one of us how happy and proud he was. Dad and Mom always enjoyed a good get-together with family, which usually (okay, always) involved a lot of great food, stories and visiting. We cherish and appreciate all the things we learned through word and by example from the two of them.
Dad and Mom continued to live on the farm, being very active in all activities that took place there. They made their move into town in November of 2025.
Dad leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 69 years, Margery. Daughter Sharon (Wayne), Christina (Nour), Sami, and Zakaria, Jason (Heather), Charlotte (“Charlie”) and Sophia. Son Ed (Pat), Colin (Laura), Siena and Finnley, Melanie (Curtis), David (“D.J.”) and Austin. He also leaves to mourn, his twin sister Lorraine Marcotte as well as many other relatives and friends.
Dad is predeceased by father Ed, mother Jean, sister Audrey, brother Lloyd, half-brothers Jimmy and Archie, half-sisters Elsie and Dorothy.
Celebration of Life Service for Lorne will be held on April 25, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. from the Kinistino Community Centre Kinistino, Sasktchewan.
