Site prep starts for new group home project in Melfort

Residents in Melfort may have noticed some building activity near the Kerry Vickar Centre. 

Excavation has begun on a building project at the corner of Bemister Ave. E. and Assiniboia St. 

Minister of Social Services Terry Jenson was unavailable for an interview about the build; however, the Ministry sent a response to northeastNOW via email. 

“The construction is for a semi-detached building for delivery of group home services for 10 clients with intellectual disabilities in Melfort,” the email stated. “The construction contract was awarded to KBI Construction of Saskatoon on February 24, 2026.”
