Pair of men with outstanding warrants charged

Two men wanted on outstanding warrants are in custody after a joint investigation in the area. 

Prince Albert’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), and Rose Valley RCMP arrested Matthew Barker in the Rose Valley RCMP detachment area on Tuesday.

He was found by CIRT inside an industrial generator on a rural property. 

Barker was wanted by Nipawin RCMP on several charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, and firearm possession. 

He was the subject of an RCMP ‘wanted’ release last week.

Also arrested in a home on the same property was Russell Bird, who was wanted by Rose Valley RCMP on charges including break and enter, assault, theft, and possession of stolen property.  

Both men were in court in Yorkton on Wednesday, and the investigation continues.
