Coffee with Council May 5 at the KVC

Council in Melfort wants to hear from you

Apr 29, 2026 | 2:47 PM

Residents in Melfort have a chance to hear it straight from council’s mouth.

Another Coffee with Council event is being held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Kerry Vickar Centre.

City Coun. Tara Muntain told northeastNOW the meetings are an opportunity for people to chat about anything and everything in an informal setting.

“Whether it’s an issue, whether it’s something that you want to commend what the city is doing, or if you’ve got an idea that you just want to bounce off of somebody,” Muntain said.

While council may not have the answer at their fingertips at the time, Muntain said they’re willing to find out the answer to any question residents bring up at the event.

The come-and-go style event also offers an opportunity to bring those issues to the forefront without having to abide by the rules and regulations of a regular council meeting. Muntain said a delegation at a council meeting needs to follow certain guidelines and has a time limit, whereas a chance like the Coffee with Council meeting is informal.

“Have a coffee, sit down, chat about anything.”

Muntain said council was at the recent Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) conference, and they’re eager to share the information they learned and heard at those meetings with Melfort residents. Council will also be able to explain what they were advocating for at the SUMA meetings to those who attend the Coffee with Council.
