“There’s not really much to say except it’s devastating to us,” Gray told Golf Saskatchewan. 

Gray said they won’t know the full amount of damage until the water fully recedes. At the time Gray spoke with Golf Saskatchewan, the water was still rising, though thankfully the situation has improved since. 

The long-time course employee said she had never seen this amount of water in her time. 

“I have never seen it like this before. It has flooded. The gazebo down below on the island has been under water before, but that would happen slow, and it would happen in April, not May,” Gray said. 

Normally, depending on the weather, the course would open around Mother’s Day. That won’t be the case this year, and Gray told Golf Saskatchewan that it comes after the “best season they’ve ever had.” 

Despite the significant setback, Gray said the community will rally around the course to help it bounce back. 

“I believe completely once the water does descend, we’re going to have a lot of volunteers there helping to get it cleaned up and tuned into shape,” she told Golf Saskatchewan.
