City of Melfort hiring new KVC Program Coordinator

May 20, 2026 | 10:44 AM

The City of Melfort is looking to hire an important employee.

The position of Kerry Vickar Centre (KVC) Program Coordinator is now open, after the retirement of Connie Miller, who held the position for the past five years.

“The Program Coordinator is responsible for the management, administration, scheduling, and program planning of the Kerry Vickar Centre,” Director of Community Services Rob Lok told northeastNOW. “The Program Coordinator works closely with community recreation, art, sport, and cultural organizations that use the facility, and the Program Coordinator supervises the three full-time facility employees.”

Lok said the Kerry Vickar Centre is very much a hub of activity within the city of Melfort, and the coordinator is a key part of the action.

“The Kerry Vickar Centre can be a very busy place with lots of demands on the program coordinator.”

The facility is often busy in the fall and winter months, with fall programming, Culture Days, corporate Christmas parties, and significant fundraising events. Theatre events, agriculture symposiums, corporate events, and sports activities keep the Kerry Vickar Centre hopping in the spring. Lok said while the summer months are often quieter, there are always several large weddings in July and August.

“The KVC is a community centre that provides a variety of rentable spaces for community functions,” Lok said. “There is [the CJVR Performing Arts Theatre}, two gymnasium courts, two craft rooms, two meeting rooms, a kitchen, and an art gallery.”

According to Lok, the facility is the perfect place for hosting concerts, weddings, conferences, theatre performances, trade shows, sporting events, art shows, and more.

Lok said they are looking for applicants with strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to work with and communicate effectively with community groups and members of the public.

“Education and experience requirements include university or college graduation, previous supervisory experience, and work experience in facility management and program coordination.”

Job applications for the position will be accepted until June 3.
