It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Ruth Elizabeth Nordstrom (Campbell). She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born on March 28, 1960, to Gordon and Inez Campbell in Melfort, Saskatchewan. She is the youngest of eight children, and she enjoyed her role of being the baby of the family. Throughout her childhood she attended Brunswick School, Division III School, and graduated from MUCC (Class of 1978). While still in High School, Ruth began her career as a Nursing Assistant, and she also fell in love with Rick Nordstrom. After graduation, they were quick to get engaged. Then on October 20, 1979, they said “I Do.”
Ruth found joy in life’s simple adventures. She loved hopping on Rick’s motorcycle or into his Mustang Cobra 2 and cruising the backroads, taking in the scenery and enjoying being together. Some of Ruth’s happiest moments were spent fishing. She always had a knack with a jig. She was usually the first one to bring in a fish or several fish. Camping was another passion of hers. She spent many summers at Waskesiu and St. Brieux Lake. In the evenings, she loved having a campfire, making smores, maybe even cooking a couple of the fish she caught. These moments reflect her adventurous spirit, her love of nature, and the way she appreciated God’s handiwork in everyday experiences.
Ruth was a devoted mother to her three children, Christopher, Kara, and Greg. She poured her heart into raising her family. She expressed her love in countless ways, from baking delicious treats that brought everyone together, to sewing with care and creativity. She taught us important life lessons through her actions, showing us the value of kindness, perseverance, and compassion. Most importantly she taught us to pray and nurtured our faith from an early age. Her love for Jesus was the foundation of her life, guiding her words, decisions, and the way she cared for others. Ruth’s faith, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family has left a lasting impact that will be treasured for generations.
Over the last several years, Ruth faced multiple surgeries and three separate cancer diagnoses. Despite these difficult challenges, she met each one with unwavering faith, remarkable strength, and enduring courage. Her trust in God carried her through life’s trials.
On June 1, 2026, Ruth was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, where she is now free from pain and suffering and at peace in His loving presence.
Ruth has been reunited with her parents Gordon and Inez Campbell; her sister Carole (Murray) Armstrong; her in-laws Elmer and Eileen Nordstrom; and infant grandson Kaden; and infant granddaughters Jayda and Payton.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Rick; her children: Chris (Lauren), Kara (Cole) Boyd, Greg (Jocelyn); her grandchildren: Teigan, Kaylia (Mike), Hailey (Josh), Chriselle, Tristyn, Brayden, Flynn, Jase, Connor, Rueben, Myla, Daniel; her great grandchild Maverick; her siblings Ken (Grace) Campbell, Don (Val) Cambell, Jean (Dale) Gordon, John (Donalda) Campbell, Doug (Vivian) Campbell, Donna (Ross) Spratt; brothers-in-law: Reg (Hanni) Nordstrom, Barry (Jean) Nordstrom; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who knew and loved her.
