Signe Eileen was born on October 24, 1933 to Ben and Esther Johnson. She grew up on the farm near Brockington with her siblings. Her school years were spent at Fort La Corne School.
After school she moved to Campbell River, BC and lived with her sister Hazel for approximately one year to work as a nurse’s aide. She then moved back home where she started dating Tony Walcer.
Eileen and Tony married on August 6th, 1954 and were blessed with 6 children. Kerry, Richard, Allan, Kathy, Mark and Robin.
Sadly, their son Richard passed away at birth. She was a stay at home mom until 1982. She then started a job at Parkland Hospital as a nurse’s aide until she retired 15 years later.
Eileen took such pride in purchasing her home in Melfort, which made it convenient to walk to work since she never got her driver’s license, and she relished in gaining more independence.
Eileen had many favorite pastimes that included gardening, bingo, playing cards and baking.
The centre of Eileen’s life was her family. She loved everyone gathering at her house where she spoiled us with all her meals and yummy baking! It was hard to say no to her when it came to her love of feeding everyone, although she always wanted an early supper to play cards.
Eileen was the person who would lend a helping hand and a listening ear to anyone who needed it. She always put everyone above herself. She was the most caring, loving and kind person you’ll ever meet. She was truly one of a kind and were lucky to have her in our lives. Eileen was the center of our family, and we will miss her dearly. We will take comfort in all the wonderful memories we have with her.
Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kerry (Bonnie), Allan, Kathy (David), Mark (Lynnette) and Robin. Grandchildren Dustin, Daylan, Jason, Michael, Rochelle, Sunny, Shannon, Kelsey, Kiefer and Kieden. Great-grandchildren Blues, Ares, Haelynn, Emily, Nathan, Aspen, Atlas and Valkryie. Sister Elsie, sister-in-law Emily, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
