Humboldt Ball Development Board presents cheque to city

A significant cheque for the City of Humboldt.

They have received $110,000 from the Humboldt Ball Development Board, with the money going toward the new Washroom and Concession Facility at Centennial Park.

The Board was created in 2019 to support improvements to local ball facilities. They have raised funds through local ball organization contributions and a sponsorship program that includes ball diamond dugout and fencing advertisements.

A City news release said the Board “played an instrumental role in advocating for the construction of the Washroom and Concession Facility and worked closely with the City throughout the planning and development of the project.”

The building will also support activities at the Jacob Leicht Memorial Outdoor Rink and Courts Facility.

“This contribution represents much more than a financial investment,” Director of Community and Leisure Services Michael Ulriksen said. “It reflects years of commitment, collaboration, and volunteer leadership from a group that deeply cares about creating quality recreation spaces in our community. The Ball Development Board has been an outstanding partner, and this project simply would not be where it is today without their vision and dedication.”

The City of Humboldt thanked current and past members of the Humboldt Ball Development Board for their commitment toward local recreation infrastructure and their countless volunteer hours.

Ulriksen said they are incredibly fortunate to have volunteers that identify opportunities to make the community better and commit themselves to making sure they become a reality.

“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the Ball Development Board as we work together to support the future of ball and recreation facilities in Humboldt.”
