Grandstand headliners all three days

Melfort Exhibition begins on Friday

Jul 14, 2026 | 9:27 AM

Fun for the whole family!

Exhibition season is upon us, and the Melfort Ex will take place Friday through Sunday.

Emily Lacno of the Melfort Ag Society said they have the usual favourites this year along with some new entertainment, including the on-ground iFlip performing act.

“All the timeless favourites are back this year: West Coast Amusements midway, the Light Horse Show, the Barrie Jung Memorial Vintage Tractor Pull on Saturday, the chuckwagons and chariots, the petting zoo, the motocross competitions, the iFlip grounds entertainment, the Indigo Circus Rovers, the beer gardens with band performances on Friday and Saturday,” Lacno explained.

There is also free face painting for kids from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum will be open during the exhibition, and there will be junior schoolwork and art exhibits, an off-midway trade show. The ex will also feature grandstand shows on all three days.

“This year on Friday the 17th we are hosting Sherman Von with his John Cougar Mellencamp tribute band,” said Lacno. “On Saturday we have home-grown artist Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys.”

The Demolition Derby will be the grandstand show on Sunday.

This year’s fireworks display will happen at dusk on Saturday.

Lacno said the Melfort Ag Society was able to book a headliner for all three nights of the fair, which means their entertainment offerings are bigger and better than ever.

“Folks should know that once they buy their gate admission, they can take in all the entertainment without any extra charges. You will have to buy your own food and ride bracelet, but everything else is accessible with just your admission.”

Pre-sales for this year’s exhibition have wrapped up, and everything will have to be purchased at the gates and midway during the fair itself. Lacno said the prices and information are available on their website, and prices have stayed the same since last year.

“The event draws in people from all over, including those who opt to come and enjoy our exhibition instead of heading to some larger city affairs,” Lacno explained. “We are proud that to date, our event has remained as safe, clean, and enjoyable as we can possibly make it!”

Not only is the event enjoyable for those taking part, it’s also a fundraiser for local groups through food booths and volunteer operations including the beer gardens and first aid and information booth.

Lacno thanked the sponsors for the event, which she said makes certain aspects of the fair possible. If a business or an individual would like to become a sponsor now or in the future, Lacno said they can contact the Ag Society.

“We do our best to advertise and celebrate everyone who supports us and truly feel that this network makes the community spirit much stronger.”

She said the Ag Society is always looking for new members, and anyone interested can contact them.

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce is hosting the parade Friday morning, with this year’s theme celebrating the Legion’s 100th anniversary.

The Melfort fair is also not the only exhibition that’s on the go. The Nipawin Exhibition is underway and will last through Wednesday.
