Marty Kenneth Jacob Johnson was born January 16, 1976 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was tragically killed in a vehicle accident on July 12, 2026 at the age of 50.

Except for four wonderful years spent in Wynyard, Saskatchewan Marty spent his childhood years in Melfort. He graduated in 1994 from MUCC.

Marty felt the call to serve his Lord as a teenager. He began his road to ministry immediately following graduation.

Marty spent his whole life in ministry pastoring in Nelson, BC; Melfort, SK; Emo, ON; Dauphin, MB and Mossbank, SK. His final church was in Norquay, SK. Marty was deeply loved in all the communities he served. One of his greatest accomplishments was finishing his Masters of Divinity degree this past April.

Marty is survived by his best friend and wife Tina and his treasured sons: Ayden and Isaac. He is also survived by his mother Karen Johnson, his sister Tara Hall (Vaughn) Kenny and Anna. He also leaves behind his father-in-law Ken Luthi, brother-in-law Cory Luthi (Olenka) and his children: Tristin, Maya, and Autumn plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and of course his Norquay Church Family.

Marty was predeceased by his father Ken, his mother-in-law Connie Luthi, his grandparents Jacob and Anna Sundelin, Martin and Bella Johnson, grandparents Edward and Edith Moulds, Fritz and Edith Luthi.

Marty was known for his sense humour, his love for people, but mainly he would want to be remembered for his love for Jesus whom he faithfully served.

His funeral service will be live-streamed on the Norquay Evangelical Covenant Church’s Facebook page.
