Dolores Elizabeth Beuker
July 20, 1930 – July 12, 2026
Dolores Elizabeth Beuker of Melfort, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 12, 2026, just short of her 96th Birthday.
Dolores was born on July 20, 1930, on the farm near Fulda, SK. She was the ninth of thirteen children born to Clementina (nee Duerr) and Herman Lueke of Fulda, SK. She attended Keller and Fulda School where she completed grades 1-9. After school she helped around the farm, and in the store her dad owned and operated in Fulda. She also found employment cleaning houses and providing childcare. She enjoyed going to dances with her siblings, and it was at one of these dances she began dating the love of her life, Bernard Beuker.
They were married on November 7, 1951, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. They then moved to a farm near Sinnett that Bernard had purchased a few years prior. They farmed there for 17 years, and it was during this time that eleven of their twelve children were born. In 1962 while still at Sinnett, they tragically lost their son Wayne at the age of six.
In 1968, the family moved to Melfort where Dolores and Bernard purchased and operated a pedigreed seed farm and a chemical/fertilizer business. Dolores participated in the farm life by doing the books for the farm, planting and tending to a very large garden, canning, sewing, cooking, baking, as well as doing other household chores and raising animals. In 1969, their last child was born.
As her children became more independent, Dolores joined the CWL in Melfort, to which she was an active member for 30 years. She enjoyed travelling with Bernard and other family, gardening, making cards which often were designed using pressed flowers from her garden, and visiting with friends and relatives. She liked to keep up on the local news by reading several newspapers from different communities and attending various school and extra-curricular activities of her children.
As her children got married, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing games with them, visiting, and attending some of their activities. Her homemade bread, buns and gingersnaps were always a big hit. Mom was always grateful for family gatherings which were a source of happiness for her.
On December 30, 2011, Dolores lost her husband Bernard after 60 years of marriage. She remained on the farm until January of 2025, then moved to Trinity Manor in Saskatoon. She adapted quickly, making friends and enjoying the many activities, particularly the church services.
Dolores was hospitalized on May 29, 2026, after her health began to deteriorate. She spent her last days at City Hospital where she received wonderful care from the staff and her family.
Dolores is survived by her seven sons: Glen, Ivan (Audrey), Lloyd (Alice), Keith (Jan), Brian (Kathy), Wilbur (Kelly), Allan (Kerri); four daughters: Bev Baptist, Michelle Tkachuk (Darren Tarasoff), Phyllis (Arliss) Preus, and Yvonne Doell; 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister Bernice Becker; in-laws Danny Steiner, Irene Lueke, Lillian Lueke, Loretta Athmer, Anita (Dwayne) Struck, Edna Beuker, Mary Ann Beuker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Bernard Beuker, son Wayne, son-in-law Kevin Baptist; her parents Herman and Clementina Lueke; sisters Florence, Anne, Caroline, Loretta, Marianne; brothers Marcellus, Art, Clarence, Herman, Francis and Donald; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
