The response has been strong so far, with the 1K kids’ fun run and the 10K run already sold out. Rogers said there are fewer than 40 spots available in the 5K run and under 20 in the 21K, adding that people interested in taking part should sign up quickly.

“We’re just about sold out,” said Rogers. 

The event begins with the 21K participants at about 8:30 a.m., then it’s time for the 1K kids’ fun run.  

“It’s always the best part of the morning watching those kids do their 1K, and then we send the [5K and 10K participants] out after that,” Rogers explained. 

A celebration of the 15th anniversary will take place before the 21K gets underway. 

A design contest was held for the medals this year, with the students in Melfort submitting their entries. Amy Madraga’s design was selected for the 15th anniversary event, and the medals have already been picked up. 

Rogers said the Melfort Multi-K was conceived by Dr. Richard van der Ross as a goal for his patients to work toward.  The Multi-K has a wide variety of participants. 

“Some people take it seriously, some people walk, some people run and just have fun. So it’s all about getting moving.” 

Organizers will soon be looking for upwards of 100 volunteers for the three days surrounding the Multi-K, and anyone interested can visit their website.
