High 20s

Cool start to August gives way to some warmth this weekend

Aug 20, 2026 | 3:14 PM

While the summer may be starting to wind down, the weather looks promising to enjoy a weekend outdoors.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Kyle Ziolkowski confirmed the rest of the week will be mild after a cool start to August.

“Going into the weekend, we’re looking at a more stable pattern setting in,” Ziolkowski said. “Temperatures are going to rebound toward the mid to high 20s.”

The North Battleford area could see temperatures climbing to above 30 C for Saturday and Sunday.

The above normal temperatures and fairly clear conditions could change late Sunday night, according to Ziolkowski. Unsettled weather ie expected from Sunday night through Monday morning, with some thunderstorm potential.

Ziolkowski said the weekend conditions should be favourable for relaxation at the lake.

“Not too hot and not too humid, it’ll be more pleasant temperatures,” he explained. “Pretty good beach weather, in my opinion.”

Beachgoers won’t be the only ones to enjoy the warm, sunny weather. Ziolkowski said most producers should be pleased with the conditions this weekend as the crops advance, with some in southern Saskatchewan already in the field.

“Definitely, the settled weather is probably welcomed by most.”
