Peter Ballantyne, feds sign deal making PBCN Saskatchewan’s first Indigenous employment training agreement holder
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation members looking for skills and employment training in Saskatchewan have a new resource closer to home.
Band leadership and the federal Ministry of Jobs and Families signed an agreement in Prince Albert on Saturday, making PBCN the first Indigenous government in Saskatchewan to hold such an agreement.
“For years, we have said that our people know what our communities need, and this agreement puts that principle into action,” Chief Peter Beatty said in a news release.
“We can now design training around our own priorities, our own people and the opportunities that exist in our communities and across the province. This is about removing barriers, creating opportunities and giving our members the tools they need to build careers and support their families. Most importantly, it puts those decisions where they belong, with our Nation.”
