Mustangs send young defenceman to Neepawa

The Melfort Mustangs have traded away a young defenceman to the Neepawa Titans of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL).

Melfort has sent 17-year-old Casey Magarrell to Neepawa in exchange for a player development fee.

Magarrell played two preseason games for the Mustangs this past week, in which he registered a pair of assists.

The 2008-born product’s only previous Junior A experience came with the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders. Magarrell suited up twice during the 2025/26 campaign and three times in the 2024/25 season.

The Stangs recently wrapped up their exhibition schedule, finishing with a record of 2 and 2. They’ll begin their regular season this Friday (Sept. 18) when they play host to the Nipawin Hawks.
