Another back to back

Mustangs set for home and home with Warman

Oct 2, 2026 | 1:46 PM

The Melfort Mustangs are back on the road this evening as they visit Warman to take on the Wolverines.

The contest will begin a home-and-home set between the two clubs, as both return to Melfort Saturday night for the rematch.

The Mustangs are coming off a weekend split with the Melville Millionaires and sit with a 2 and 2 record through the first two weeks of the season.

“It was good to get that split last Saturday, but honestly, we felt that we outworked them in both games, and that our game was all there. With that in mind, we’re excited to go into this weekend and feel ready to try and get both,” said forward Lincoln Rogers.

“We want to set the tone on the road and feel that we’re going to be good. At times we haven’t been our best on the road this season, but we’re looking to change that and get on a big streak moving forward.”

Warman is currently the best team in the SJHL (standings-wise), as they’re off to a hot 4- 1 start to the year.

Rogers explained the belief for his club; however, as they’ve been around the SJHL block a few more times.

“They’re a good team, but I think what helps us is experience. We’ve got a lot of guys who have been through a little more than them, and kind of know what’s going on in the league a little more, so I think that’ll help us, and will hopefully get us the two games,” added Rogers.

“We’re focused on our offence a bit this weekend, just because we haven’t been scoring too many goals, outside of our opener against Nipawin. I think just capitalizing on our chances a little more, and just finding different ways to put the puck in the net will be huge for us moving forward.”

Puck drop in Warman Friday evening is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the pregame show on 105CJVR and CJVR.com beginning at roughly 6:40 p.m.
