Above normal temps

First week of November expected to be warm, sunny

A gloomy start to November will be giving way to a pleasant week.

The weather forecast is calling for conditions to clear, and above normal temperatures to continue over the next week or so.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Senior Meteorologist Matt Albers told northeastNOW that conditions will be quite nice after the fog and cloud leave the province.

“We’re going to be welcomed with some nice, warm, sunny conditions,” Albers said.

Daytime highs should be about 8 C, according to Albers, and that could approach double digits at the end of the work week. That is well above the normal daytime high for this time of year, which is about 1 C.

“That’s looking like anywhere from five to nine degrees above normal,” said Albers.

The overnight lows over the next week or so should be around the normal for this time of year at –8 C, due to the clear sky.

Albers said the sunshine and warm conditions are all thanks to a buildup of high pressure that is pushing the jet stream up toward the northern Saskatchewan border. That brings warmer weather in from the south, leading to highs being well above seasonal for the remainder of the week.

“This pattern should persist for the next five to seven days,” Albers said.

Things should cool off sometime next week, according to Albers. He added that it’s too early to tell exactly when it will cool off, and by how much.
