Travellers encouraged to obey rules during Nipawin bridge reconstruction

The Town of Nipawin is passing on a message of compliance from those working on the Highway 55 Bridge on the outskirts of Nipawin.

Stantec Engineering and the Saskatchewan Provincial Government, who are jointly working on reconstruction of the Highway 55 Bridge, are encouraging travellers through Nipawin to obey traffic lights while crossing the bridge to ensure the safety of the workers present.

Barry Elliott, Nipawin’s chief administrative officer, doesn’t believe the same safety notice will be put in the next weekly update provided by Stantec and the province, but the town itself will encourage travellers to pay attention to signage and restrictions.

“It is an inconvenience,” Elliott said. “We and the folks working on the bridge recognize that and they’re only taking the steps to ensure work proceeds as per scheduled, and all people travelling through the area remain safe.
