With school coming to an end, summer playground programs will kick off next Wednesday.

Free daily drop-in activities will be offered once again at Burke and Brunswick playgrounds in Melfort.

Recreation Programmer Shannon Marshall said the fun takes place Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Each week is themed for the eight weeks of summer so they can experience a new theme each week with different crafts, activities, and recreation programs at the parks,” Marshall said.

A daily snack and drink will also be provided for children enrolled in the program.

There are also two big events throughout the summer that will feature bouncy castles, face painting, balloon twisting, water fights, and pizza.

The mid-summer splash bash takes place at the Burke playground on July 24, and the year end wrap up will be hosted at the Brunswick playground on August 21. Both of those special events run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration is encouraged online.

Construction also continues on the latest spray park at the Spruce Haven Recreation Area. Marshall said they expect the spray park and playground to be open in August.
