City of Melfort approves overexpenditure for sidewalk replacement at Northern Lights Palace
The City of Melfort is going to have to spend a bit more money than expected on a project in town.
At the regular council meeting on Monday, July 8, council voted to approve an overexpenditure for the city’s project to replace the sidewalk on the north end of the Northern Lights Palace.
“They found out that the way it was pinned in to the retaining wall, meant they had to rip out the retaining wall as well,” Mayor Rick Lang said. “So that was not originally costed into the occasion.”
Lang said the plan to replace that sidewalk was always there, but initial plans intended to keep the retaining wall. He added this is a ‘live and learn’ experience for the city.
