Emergency services gala

Tisdale Emergency services gala being held in October

Sep 19, 2019 | 3:19 PM

Emergency services in the Tisdale area will be showcased at a gala being held in just a few weeks.

The gala will aim to raise funds for emergency services in the community while also showing appreciation for those services.

Jim Wright with the Tisdale fire department said there will be government representatives along with other special guests on hand.

“The lieutenant-governor will be in attendance, we also have commanding officer from RCMP depot, north division command as well as Randy Hoback,” Wright said.

This is the first fundraiser like this in quite a few years according to Wright.

“It was originally brought up [at] the legion in Tisdale as a way to show appreciation of all the emergency service workers within our community,” Wright said.

Wright said that the RCMP used to hold a gala but this would be the first one that has been a cooperative event for all emergency services.

Tickets have been a little slower so far for the event that can cater to around 300 people.

“If anyone is interested in attending the event, the sooner you can purchase your tickets, the better,” Wright said. “That way we can plan accordingly and make sure the event happens.”

The committee will need to sell a minimum of 100 tickets.

“If we don’t reach our minimum tickets sales we will refund ticket holders,” Wright said.

All of the funds raised will be split between all emergency services in the Tisdale area which Wright said is a fairly large area.

Tickets are on sale for the gala that will feature a supper and a live band on October 5 at the Tisdale RecPlex. Tickets are available at the Tisdale RCMP detachment or at the Source.
