Melfort’s Chase the Ace fundraiser returns Thursday

An annual fundraiser is back in Melfort.

The Chase the Ace kickoff party is being held on Thursday at the Melfort Legion.

Project Co-chair Trent Fedorychka said tickets will be on sale from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., with the draw at 7 p.m.

Supper will be organized by the Chase the Ace committee this week.

The fundraiser was very successful last year, Fedorychka said, both for the committee and the community as a whole.

“Everyone that came every week to do their meals and that kind of stuff… I can’t honestly say how much was made but I’m going to say anywhere from $40,000 to $50,000 quite easily went back to the community just through the meals,” Fedorychka said.

Meanwhile, Shauna Stafford selected the ace of spades in last year’s draw, and took home $13,251.

The Chase the Ace lottery licence is good through the end of May 2020, and tickets are one for $10 or three for $20.

Fedorcyka said it’s a great chance to support good causes in the community, including the Melfort Kinsmen and Kinettes, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Melfort Golf and Country Club, the Melfort Curling Club, North East SPCA, Melfort Elks and Melfort Legion.

This year’s sponsors are Boston Pizza, Cheyenne GM, and Prairie North Co-op.
