Late Robert Henning honoured during the Roosters Tournament

The Roosters Tournament in Melfort has come and gone, although the pre-game ceremony on Nov. 2 made the 40th installment of the adult rec hockey tournament feel memorable.

A ceremonial puck drop was held for Robert Henning, a longstanding member of the Roosters and long-time user of the Northern Lights Palace. Henning passed away in July 2019 at age 94.

Stan Ryhorchuk and Terry Rogers, long-time friends of Henning, were present for the puck drop. Ryhorchuk said Henning coached his fastball team in 1967 and played hockey with him since 1969.

Rogers called Henning an integral part of Melfort hockey and softball for many years.
