Eileen Ellen Nordstrom (Pearson)
Mom was born on the family farm in the Lund District, only child of Ragnar and Ellen (Flodell) Pearson. A short year after her birth her father Ragnar suddenly passed away after surgery, and in 1934 Ellen married Art Nelson, the man mom would come to know as her father. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Beatty along with her six siblings.
After attending Lund School, she remained on the farm where the family was involved in mixed farming, and in running a small general store which sported a hand operated gas pump.
Mom married Elmer Nordstrom on Oct 18, 1950 and were blessed with three sons; Reg, Rick and Barry.
Mom accepted Jesus as her personal savior in her teens, her strong faith in God was evident throughout her life. She loved music and frequently played the piano, organ or the accordion, usually in ‘two flats’ (all by ear of course). She loved to sing harmony in duets or in groups at church as well.
Mom worked for several years in the Parkland laundry, at Nirvana as a nursing attendant eventually becoming the activity director and, also as a commissionaire in the RCMP barracks. Later she became the go to babysitter for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was very loving and protective of all her family and made sure that we were dressed warm and were well fed. Having traditional Swedish food was always a favorite anytime of the year. Each of us has our own favorite meal or treat, and the tradition continues today with the next generation.
Mom enjoyed going for coffee, going for drives, seeing wildlife, picking berries in the fall and having picnics in the pines.
In the past few years she has struggled with health issues and was taken home last Saturday morning to join our dad, Elmer, her parents Ragnar and Ellen, stepfather Arthur Nelson, brother Lloyd, sister Betty (Jim) Gregor, and great grandchildren Cayden, Payton and Jayda Nielsen in Heaven.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Reg (Hanni), Rick (Ruth) and Barry (Jeanne). Grandsons: Jeff (Angela), Curtis, Eric (Sarah), Chris (Lauren), Greg (Jocelyn), and Issac. Granddaughter Kara (Cole) Boyd. Great grandchildren Teigan, Kaylia, Chriselle, Hailey, Tristyn, Flynn, Brayden, Jase, Connor, Mikaila and Caleb. Brothers Elroy (Dianne) Nelson, Don (Darlene) Nelson and sisters, Thelma (Cliff) Derkatz and Lorna (Don) Spratt, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
