Vernon Stobbs

Vernon John Stobbs was born in Kinistino on July 12th, 1949. He passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side on November 10th 2018 in Melfort.
Vernon was the middle child born to Lloyd and Enid Stobbs putting him between older sister Brenda, and younger brother Bryon. He grew up on the family farm in the Gowanbrae District. He spent much of his younger years tossing bales and helping his dad and his Uncle Floyd with all the farming activities. He went to school in Kinistino where he played football, baseball, and then hockey in the winter.
He married Wanda Holoien in November of 1967 and they went on to have 3 children, Lee Vernon, Sharla Camille, and Sheldon Richard.
In 1967 Vernon moved to PA and began his meat cutting career at the Coop. In 1968 the Coop opened in Wakaw and they made the move there where he managed the meat department until the move was made back to the farm in the North Star district in 1972. He started his position at Parkland Care Home in 1984 where he worked until he retired in 2011.
In August 2001 he married Diane Sturby and gained 2 stepsons, Dustin (Heather) and Dillon.
Vernon enjoyed golfing with brother Bryon and friends and traveled to courses around the area.
After Retirement Vernon enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake, watching his grandkids, helping at harvest time and working on projects around the house.
Vernon is survived by his wife Diane. His children Lee, Sharla (Dale), Sheldon (Carrie) and their children Jessie, Bret, Lexi-Grace and Olivia Stobbs. His step children Dustin (Heather) and their children Holden and Jyllisa Sturby, and Dillon Sturby. His Brother Bryon (Susan) Stobbs and their children Emily (Owen Quance) Stobbs and Kellie (Dustin) Martin. Special nephew Robbie (Terrie) Erickson and special niece Cindy (Scott) Anderson. Mother of his children Wanda Holoien. Numerous great nieces nephews cousins and friends.
Vernon was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Enid Stobbs and his Sister Brenda (Fred) Erickson.
At Vernon’s request, no funeral service will be held.
