Ashley Robb

Ashley Star (Schmidt) Robb was born April 25, 1985 in Windsor, ON; the middle child between sister, Carrie, and brother, Wayne. She grew up being a happy-go-lucky girl who tried to befriend everyone.
Ashely matured into a beautiful, vibrant, loving young woman with an enthusiastic zest for life. She was generous of heart and spirit with all of her family and friends. Always willing to listen, to encourage, or go to war for those she loved. Her fiery ‘redhead’ personality was bigger than life which at times could be a bit too exuberant. Her infectious laugh and outgoing personality was a joy to anyone around her.
Ashley moved to Saskatchewan about five years ago. This was a huge step for an ON city girl to move to the prairies and a brave choice, as she left her family behind, to make a new life for herself. Fortunately, she was able to go back home a number of times each year to visit her son, Mikey, and the rest of her family and friends.
Shortly after her move here, she met Darin and Emma. They seemed to hit it off from the very beginning. She readily moved into the mother role for Emma and treated her as if she were her own. Ashley and Darin were married Aug. 30, 2014. The whole day was a joyous occasion held, here at the Silver Park Community Hall.
She was welcomed by her extended ‘in-law’ family. She loved being around family. She wormed her way into Grandma and Grandpa Groat’s hearts. She was so good to them, especially to Grandpa after Grandma’s passing. He would tease her all the time and say she was 33% theirs. The bond she had with them was extra special.
We were so proud of Ashley when she was able to get a job doing what she loved and did the best – working with the residents at Parkland. She was determined to work towards her CCA diploma and enrolled at Cumberland College, graduating with her GED. This was a very proud accomplishment. She then started to study to earn her CCA and at the same time continued to work at Parkland.
Ashley gradually learned to appreciate the country life. She enjoyed quadding with the family; boating, fishing and tubing at the surrounding lakes – and even ice fishing as long as she could stay warm. Her favorite was snowboarding with Darin and Emma. Darin and Ashley often reminisced of her first trip to the mountains and the great time they had snowboarding at Banff and Kimberley.
She loved animals – all kinds of animals. You’d often hear her say ‘isn’t he cute’, even to the first salamander she saw on the road by the farm. She wasn’t afraid to wrap a boa around her shoulders or try to pet a crocodile. Bella, the family black lab, was her constant companion, following her everywhere.
Ashley passed away suddenly Sept. 15, 2018 in Saskatoon, SK leaving emptiness for all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Darin; his daughter, Emma; her son, Mikey, mother Karen Schmidt (and Ken); father David High (and Lynn); sister, Carrie, and brother, Wayne (Kim and Kaleb); Her in-law family Anne and Bill; Marie (Dean) Belanger and family, Shane (Dee) Robb and family; Maria Robb, Devon Robb and family and special ‘sister’ friend, Jenny Lapointe. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Aaliyah.
Ashley we will always love you, we will miss you, we will meet again.
