Frederick Shipley

Frederick Shipley passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 99. He was born September 23, 1918 at Edenbridge, Saskatchewan to Herbert and Caroline Shipley. He had six siblings – Mary, John, Alfred, Arthur, Ronald and George.
Fred joined the Army in 1941 and served overseas. He was wounded in 1944 while in France but returned to his regiment in 1945.
September 1945, Fred returned to the Star City area to farm. He married Beatrice Baptist, November 12, 1953 and they farmed together until 1981 when they retired to Star City. Fred and Beatrice moved to Melfort in 2011.
Fred enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing cards. He continued to serve his community as a member of the Star City Legion Branch 264 for over 50 years.
Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice, his brother George, sisters-in-law Edith Baptist and Jean Hawrychuk, brothers-in-law Ross Baptist and Clarence Baptist as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Fred’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date at the Norwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Parkland Place for the wonderful care he received during his stay there.
