Eva Cecile (Gagne) Poch was born on April 19, 1941 at Eldersley, Saskatchewan. She was born to parents Marie and Joseph Gagne.
Eva is survived by her husband Joe and her two brothers: Joseph and Alfred. She was predeceased by her brother Lucien Gagne.
Most of Eva’s schooling was taken at the Convent in Zenon Park where she graduated in 1959. She later found her way to Prince Albert, where she babysat for the Golla family during the day and in the evening she took a business course. In 1962, she eventually made her way back to Tisdale where she worked at Park Service. While working at Park Service, she met the love of her life, Joe Poch and on October 23, 1965 they were married. They had a farm near Sylvania and called it home for 35 years. Eva and Joe were blessed with three children: Marie (Les) Lambert, Lorn (Jane) Poch and Jeanette (Brett) Beckman. Later on she was blessed with eight grandchildren.
Eva was a hard working lady; she hauled grain, took meals out to the field and loved gardening. She was never scared to get her hands dirty and rarely sat down unless there was curling or a ball game on TV. Eva loved to curl and coach softball. Above all, spending time out in the garden was Eva’s true passion. She could make anything grow and knew all the names to any flower when asked. She also loved travelling and visiting many different parts of the United States.
In 1995, Joe and Eva retired from farming and bought an acreage near Melfort. Eva continued to enjoy travelling and gardening. Most of all Eva loved spending time with her family and she knew the true meaning of what a family meant. She welcomed and had a special bond with all of her grandchildren. Eva (Mom), you will be greatly missed. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Goodbyes are not forever…it just means we will see you later.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Melfort Union Hospital for taking care of Eva. A private funeral will be held at a later date.
