Gilles was born on January 11, 1953 in Zenon Park to Fernand and Resina Favreau, as the oldest of nine. On July 23, 1988 Gilles married Celine Habetler. Gilles and Celine were blessed with 2 sons, Serge & Luc.

On the evening of March 27, 2018, Gilles passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Gilles is predeceased by his brother Jean, his brother Marc, his mother Resina, and his father Fernand.

Left to mourn his passing are: his wife Celine, sons Serge (Kirby Hardwick), and Luc (Janel Bronner); siblings Roberta Kulyk (Ron), Cecile Favreau, Roger Favreau, Jacqueline Kieser (Victor), Diane Favreau (Richard), Roseanne Piché (Michel), mother and father-in-law Joe and Blanche Habetler, sister-in-law Jacqueline Lessmeister (Dale), brother-in-law Gregory Habetler (Denise), sister-in-law Pamela Habetler, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends too numerous to mention.
