George Home Hardware opens M&M Food Market Express

George Home Hardware in Melfort is now home to an M&M Food Market Express.

The freezers arrived on Tuesday and the store now has access to the Canadian frozen food retailers top 200 sellers.

Home Hardware owner Ena McAuley said they have had this in the works for a few months.

“We were first introduced to the idea in July and didn’t really know where we wanted to go with the idea and then we just decided that we were going to do it and be open for Christmas,” McAuley said.

The food market express program is a smaller version of what would be offered in a full food market store.

The closest M&M Food Market store is in Prince Albert, adding yet another unique service to Melfort and area.

“Keeping people in Melfort and to bring people into Melfort, we are happy to do that,” McAuley said. “The more services we can provide in Melfort that is just great for the whole community.”

Being open for Christmas was a big bonus for the business owners as well as for the community.

“Everybody is busy this time of year and with M&M being known for appetizers and desserts, we just bulked up on those for the holiday season,” McAuley said. “The single serve meals are really going over well for a quick lunch or something on the run.”

The freezers are located on the north wall of the George Home Hardware located on Main Street.
