Bruce Porter Lindsay was born July 26, 1935 on the family farm at Kinley, SK near Perdue. When he was two years old the family moved to Pleasantdale, SK to settle. His mother passed away when he was 8 years old and his father, a school teacher, raised him and his siblings. Bruce rode horseback to and from school. They all helped out on the family farm where they had horses, cattle and pigs.

Hard work was something he learnt at a very young age and continued to display his whole life.

After finishing a grade 8 education at the age of 15, Bruce left home to head out to find work. 

While working in Plato, SK he met Ruby at a dance in 1956. Bruce and Ruby were married March 22, 1958 in Eston, SK.

In the early 1960’s they moved to Naicam, SK. and began their own company, Lindsay Construction. All throughout his working life he had his hand in laying down pipelines in Manitoba, SK, Alberta, and BC. He took great pride in telling these stories.

All three of his sons have been involved in the family company over the years. Bruce’s legacy is that construction has been engrained in his sons and created a common bond between his boys. His sons were proud of their father and to be a part of his life.

Back in the day when he wasn’t working you could find him enjoying a coffee at coffee row, watching sports, or enjoying a good curling game with Ruby.

We all have fond memories of Bruce’s white bread bologna sandwiches, love of honey, his eggs and butter on everything!

Bruce didn’t take himself too seriously, he loved to tease and joke around. Bruce’s great sense of humor will also be a legacy he leaves behind for all his family to think fondly of and cherish. He was a man of very few words, but the words he spoke were always genuine. Bruce was a very kind man, generous and he truly was a person you wanted in your corner. He always made sure his family was a priority and that they had everything they needed.

Bruce really enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and was proud of all them. When he gained Great granddaughters it really brought out his softer side.

After the passing of his wife Ruby, he sold the family home & relocated to Melfort, SK where he could be closer to his brother Stuart, spend time with old friends and enjoy visits from his family. 

Bruce was predeceased by his wife Ruby Jean (Andrews) Lindsay, his parents: Albert & Anna (Porter) Lindsay, sister & brother-in-law Loreen & James Clifford & sister-in-law Janet Andrews. 

Survived by his sons: Brian (Kathy) Lindsay & children: Mitch (Mike) Morgans-Bellamy, Taylor (Della) Bertrand, Brandyn (Raisa) Bertrand, Riley (Brendan) Haussecker & son Lincoln; Warren (Janet) Lindsay & their sons: Morgan Lindsay (Katrina) & Brett Lindsay; Rodger Lindsay (Sakina) & children: Angela (Russ) Panczak & daughter Skyler; Jeff (Jackie) Lindsay & daughter Emma; Kurt (Charity) Lindsay & children: Graydi & Bryar; brother Stuart Lindsay (Joyce); brothers-in-law: Morris (Marion) Andrews & Larry Andrews; sister-in-law Maxine (Bill) Stevenson & their families and many beloved nieces, nephews and great friends.

Bruce will be deeply missed by his family and forever in their hearts.
