Mustangs snap four game skid with bounce-back win over Broncos
The Melfort Mustangs got their first win in over two weeks on Saturday as they defeated the Humboldt Broncos 5-2, and left Elgar Petersen Arena snapping a four game skid.
Mustangs Assistant Coach Trevor Logan said it was one of the teams best performances in a while.
“The emotion was there tonight, the guys were jumping, they were relentless tonight,” he said. “And that’s what we’ve been really trying to get out of them and even if it’s not going our way and it doesn’t go our way on the scoreboard, we still want to be relentless, so that was good to see.”
Christian Albertson opened the scoring for the Mustangs just 1:44 into the game, giving them the first lead of the game, just as they did on Friday, a game they lost 5-4 in a shootout. Spencer McHardy got the Broncos back to even with less than three minutes to play in the first.
