Carlton Crushes Cancer Campaign Complete with fulfilment of generous pledge by Malcolm Jenkins.

Members of the Home Care and Palliative Team in Prince Albert, along with Kelsey Pearson from Carlton Comp High School and the Victoria Hospital Foundation were on hand to accept and thank Malcolm Jenkins and Canadian Tire for his donation of $25,000 toward the Carlton Crushes Cancer campaign. Malcolm’s pledged matching donation launched the campaign in early December and helped to inspire the community to rally around this important initiative for palliative cancer patients in our community.

The campaign which was organized and run by the staff, volunteers and students at Carlton High School, raised over $100,000 with the final total announced at the Carlton v. Melfort tournament on January 23 in Prince Albert. The funds raised will be used to purchase vital equipment and furniture for palliative cancer patients in Prince Albert and surrounding areas:

· Hospital grade beds and air mattresses

· State of the art pain pumps

· Mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers

· Safety equipment such as: ceiling lifts

· Quality of Life Equipment such as: Virtual Reality software and goggles

· Monitoring Equipment

“We are so grateful to Malcolm Jenkins with Canadian Tire for his immense generosity toward helping our terminal patients during such a difficult time in their illness. The collective efforts of our community will enable our Foundation to make a significant investment in the best equipment and furniture for palliative cancer patients who want to remain at home for as long as possible. ” Sherry Buckler, CEO Victoria Hospital Foundation

All funds raised stay in our community for the benefit of patients and families at home.
