Wayne passed peacefully in Parkland Place in Melfort, SK with his family at his side and went to be in the arms of his loving Jesus on May 9, 2020.
Wayne was born in Melfort, SK to Earl and Mary Thompson (Deceased) and was raised on a farm near Lac Vert, SK for his entire childhood. He married his beautiful bride Linda Rae Thompson (nee Morrison) in 1963 and remained married for 55 years. He was a loving father to 3 children—Mark Wray Thompson (Debbie), Tammy Ilene Lutz (Brent), Paul Wayne Thompson (Lisa) and a doting grandfather to 7 grandchildren, Anna Ilene Wehner, Chad Michael Wehner, Seth Thompson, Jason Thompson, Ben Thompson, Sarah Thompson, and Natalie Thompson.
He was very close as well to his five siblings, sister Melba Mayner, sister Hyacinth Bradley (deceased), sister Audrey Smood (deceased), Audrey’s husband Frank, brother Leslie Thompson (Susan), and sister Sandra Bood. (Peter) and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss his presence very much as well.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our extraordinary father. He was loved by many and it is a tremendous loss to all who knew him. Wayne and Linda raised their three children in Saskatoon, SK where Wayne enjoyed a very successful career in automotive sales spanning decades. Wayne was very well known in the automotive world. He was a kind friend to all and always reaching out to help anyone who needed him. He had a great sense of humor and was forever telling jokes and making people smile. His eyes lit up when he got to the punch line. He was an ever-faithful servant and child of God and loved and served Jesus proudly. He was a great provider and giver and always provided for his family in the most generous of ways.
We ask ourselves how we can live without him and are so sad but the joy that comes from knowing he is in heaven brings us peace. He is free from his stroke-ravaged body and is now dancing and worshiping Jesus with no earthly shackles to hold him down.
Dad, you were such a great man that handled these last many years with such grace and strength. We are so honored to have had you as a husband to our mom and a father to us and we will miss you dearly but will see you again someday.
We wish to thank all the wonderful caregivers in Parkland Place who so kindly looked after our father since he arrived.in 2014 you have become his and our extended family over these many years.
A service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held at a later date.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.
