North East SPCA hopes first 50/50 fundraiser can reach entire region during pandemic
For the first time in its history, the North East SPCA is conducting an online 50/50 fundraiser.
Fifty per cent of sales up to a maximum of $50,000 will go to the winner. Only residents in the North East SPCA’s region – as north as Tobin Lake and Love, as east as Hudson Bay, as south as Naicam and Porcupine Plain, and as west as Weldon and Kinistino – can purchase tickets.
The coronavirus pandemic has left the SPCA to make changes in how it gets all communities together for fundraising.
“During the pandemic, we’ve had to find some fundraisers we can do online, and to also reach our whole region, not just one or two towns,” North East SPCA’s Board Representative for Fundraising Marianthe Strydom said. “We tried to make the fundraiser as safe as possible. This is a big opportunity to reach everywhere. Because we couldn’t do any of our regular fundraisers, it’s really important for us to raise enough funds to keep the shelter going.”
